Valley Boulevard – Alhambra Avenue Connector
Project EIR Traffic Study
Raju Associates,
Inc. has recently completed work on the
preparation of a traffic impact report and a
neighborhood traffic management plan for the
Valley Boulevard – Alhambra Avenue Connector
Road Project Environmental Impact Report Study.
This study was prepared for the City of Los
Angeles Department of Public Works, Bureau of
Engineering and the Department of
Transportation. Raju performed the traffic
analysis to determine the street and
intersection geometry at the analysis locations
that would be required for satisfactory
operations within the City of Los Angeles and
the City of Alhambra.
A regional travel demand forecasting model was
utilized to estimate future year 2010 and 2030
conditions with and without the proposed
congestion relief project. As well, traffic
conditions at the study roadway segments and
intersections were analyzed. The proposed
improvements were designed while working closely
with Caltrans and the City of Alhambra. Using
SYNCRO software, Raju also developed a large
area micro-simulation model and demonstrated
that the proposed combination of lane geometry,
traffic control and other improvements would
provide the required appropriate level of
functionality and operations along several
travel corridors. Raju prepared the neighborhood
traffic intrusion analysis as well as mitigation
measures to alleviate any significant traffic or
neighborhood intrusion impacts. A detailed
documentation of the study has been prepared for
inclusion in a Draft EIR document.
