Enhanced Antelope
Valley Transportation Analysis Model 3 (EAVTAM
3) Development and Validation/Calibration
Raju Associates,
Inc. has developed a Transportation Analysis
Model for the Antelope Valley region, using data
from the Southern California Association of
Governments (SCAG) Regional Transportation Plan
(RTP) 2004 as the base. The EAVTAM model is
currently being used to assist the Cities of
Palmdale and Lancaster in various planning
activities including development of General Plan
Circulation Elements, Environmental Impact
Reports, and Master Plan of Highways.
The various steps involved in the model
development and validation included Traffic
Analysis Zone (TAZ) system development, highway
network development, trip table development
including trip generation and distribution,
volume delay function development and traffic
assignment routines, and finally, the model
validation process. The calibrated model is
being used in the development of the Circulation
Plans including assessment of their
effectiveness and testing of network improvement
alternatives.
